Who these apply to

These terms cover anyone booking or attending a class, private session, course or retreat with Shramalaya, a registered business in Ahangama, Southern Province, Sri Lanka. Booking with us means accepting them.

Booking and payment

  • A place is confirmed once payment has been received, or once we've confirmed a reservation in writing.
  • Prices are shown in Sri Lankan rupees and include applicable taxes. If your card is in another currency, your bank sets the conversion rate.
  • Class packs and passes are personal to you and cannot be transferred or resold, except where a pack is explicitly described as shareable.
  • You must be 18 or older to book. Under-18s are welcome to practise with a parent or guardian present, arranged with us beforehand.

Cancellations and refunds are covered separately in ourrefunds & cancellations policy.

Your health

This matters more than anything else on this page. Yoga is physical activity, and you take part at your own risk.

  • Tell us before class about injuries, recent surgery, pregnancy, high or low blood pressure, or any condition affecting your ability to practise. Teachers can only adapt for what they know about.
  • If you have a medical condition or are unsure whether you should practise, speak to a doctor first. We're teachers, not medical practitioners, and nothing said in class is medical advice.
  • Work within your own limits. Come out of any posture that hurts, rest whenever you need to, and treat every instruction as an invitation rather than an obligation.
  • Teachers may offer hands-on adjustments. You can decline these at any time, for any reason, and it will never be treated as a problem.

Liability

We take reasonable care to keep the shala safe and to teach responsibly. To the extent Sri Lankan law allows, we're not liable for injury, illness or loss arising from your participation, except where it results from our own negligence. Please don't bring valuables — belongings left at the shala are your own responsibility.

In the shala

  • Arrive around ten minutes before class; latecomers may be asked to wait for a suitable moment to join.
  • Phones off or silent, and left with your shoes.
  • No photography or filming during class without asking everyone present.
  • Please don't come to class under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • We ask everyone to treat teachers and fellow practitioners with respect. We reserve the right to ask someone to leave, without refund, for behaviour that makes the space unsafe or unwelcoming for others.

Changes to the schedule

Class times, teachers and the schedule itself can change — we'll give as much notice as we can. If we cancel a class you've paid for, therefunds policy sets out what happens next.

The website

We keep the information here as accurate as we can, but times and prices can change. Text and images on this site belong to Shramalaya and shouldn't be reproduced without asking.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, and any dispute falls to the Sri Lankan courts. If something's wrong, though, please talk to us first — almost everything can be sorted out directly.
