What we collect when you contact or book with us, why we hold it, and what we never do with it.

Who we are
Shramalaya is a yoga and wellness shala in Ahangama, Southern Province, Sri Lanka, operating as a registered Sri Lankan business. This policy coversshramalaya.com and any enquiry or booking you make through it.

What we collect
When you enquire
- Your name and email address
- The class or date you're asking about
- Anything you choose to tell us in your message
When you book and pay
- Your name, email address and phone number
- Which classes or package you booked, and when
- Any health information you volunteer — an injury or a pregnancy, for instance — so the teacher can look after you properly in class
We never see or store your card details. Card payments are handled entirely by our payment provider on their own systems. Nothing about your card reaches this website or our records beyond a confirmation that a payment succeeded.
When you simply visit the site
Our host records standard technical information — page requests, rough location by country, browser type — for security and to keep the site running. We don't use advertising trackers or third-party analytics that profile you across other websites.
Why we hold it
- To answer your enquiry and confirm your place in class
- To take payment and issue a receipt
- To keep track of class packs and how many sessions remain
- To teach you safely — health details you share are seen only by the teacher taking your class
- To meet Sri Lankan tax and accounting requirements
We only send you marketing or newsletters if you have specifically asked for them, and every one of those has an unsubscribe link.
Who else sees it
We share the minimum necessary with a small number of providers:
- Our payment provider — to take card payments and process refunds. They act as their own data controller under their own privacy policy.
- Our website host — which serves this site and keeps standard server logs.
- Our email provider — through which enquiries and booking confirmations pass.
- Our accountant and the Sri Lankan tax authorities — where the law requires it.
We do not sell your information, and we never rent or trade contact lists.
How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become bookings: up to 12 months
- Booking and payment records: 7 years, as required for Sri Lankan tax and accounting purposes
- Health details you've shared: deleted once they're no longer relevant to teaching you, or on request
Your choices
You can ask us at any time to:
- Tell you what we hold about you
- Correct anything that's wrong
- Delete your details — except records we're legally required to keep for tax purposes
- Stop sending you anything at all
Write to hello@shramalaya.com and we'll deal with it within 30 days.
Keeping it safe
The site is served over an encrypted connection. Access to booking records is limited to the people at the shala who need it. That said, no system is perfect — if something ever goes wrong that affects you, we'll tell you directly rather than quietly.
Changes
If this policy changes materially, we'll update the date at the top and, for anything significant, tell people who have booked with us.
